What is PRP?

What is platelet rich plasma (PRP) for hair loss?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) for hair loss is a treatment that uses your own blood to help stimulate hair regrowth. The platelets are isolated from a small sample of your blood. They contain growth factors, and when they are injected into thinning or bald areas of the scalp they can help encourage new hair growth.

PRP can help with both thinning and balding, and the results are thicker, fuller hair over time. It is a simple and effective treatment that is performed in our Grand Rapids office, with no anesthesia and no downtime required.

PRP is not a one-time fix. Most patients need repeat treatments to keep their results, and Dr. Holt will recommend how often. Read more about how PRP hair treatment works.

How PRP hair treatment works

A PRP treatment usually takes about an hour, start to finish, in our Grand Rapids office.

01

Consultation

Dr. Holt looks at your hair loss and goals and explains whether PRP, a hair transplant or a combination fits you best.

02

Blood draw

A small amount of your own blood is drawn, much like a routine blood test.

03

You can also use it preventively to maintain your hair's thickness over time.

When should I expect to see results from PRP?
