Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hair Loss is a treatment that uses your own blood to help stimulate hair regrowth. This is done by isolating the platelets from your blood, which contain growth factors, and then injecting them into the scalp (the bald area) which can help encourage new hair growth.

When it comes to PRP treatment, the best candidate is someone who has early male- or female-pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia). PRP can help people with thinning hair on the scalp or along the hairline. It also helps with metabolically induced hair thinning or loss. Or you can use it preventively to maintain your hair’s thickness over time.
In most cases, you’ll start seeing your new growth within a few months of the procedure. However, it can take up to one year for your hair to completely grow in. We recommend that you stay on top of your treatments and follow the doctor’s recommendations for the length of treatment time and frequency of treatments.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is not a permanent solution for hair loss. Patients will likely need additional injections to maintain the results.
The treatment usually takes about an hour.
The side effects are mild and typically last for only about 24 hours. They include: swelling of the area where the PRP was injected, redness, and bruising at the injection site. However, these side effects are rare and usually go away quickly.
